Stocks shrugged off a handful of robust economic reports to extended losses Friday as oil prices jumped amid increased violence in Libya.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled more than 150 points, led byHewlett-Packard [HPQ 42.20 -1.00 (-2.31%) ], DuPont [DD 53.25 -1.30 (-2.38%) ] and AmEx [AXP 43.39 -0.91 (-2.05%) ], a day after the markets posted its best one-day rise in three months in the wake of a robust report on jobless claims and falling oil prices.
