PressTV - One Afghan protester killed, 10 injured
At least one Afghan protester has been killed and 10 others have been left wounded in northern Afghanistan as police opened fire at the demonstrations against the presence of foreign troops in the country.

More than 3,000 people took part in the protests against the US-led forces in the war-torn country which turned violent in the town of Charikar, the capital of Parwan province, on Monday, a Press TV correspondent reported.

The protests come after the arrest of three local clerics by the US-led forces in an overnight raid.

Two of the clerics detained on Sunday were later released, but one is still being held, triggering the protests, International Security Assistance Force spokesman Major Tim James said.

Police say the clashes between the protesters and Afghan security forces broke out after armed men in the crowd started shooting.

Resentment has been building in war-wrecked Afghanistan against the US-led forces for years.
