US prosecutors have compiled and announced charges against five suspects accused of involvement in planning the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.
The indictment against the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others was unveiled on Sunday, AFP reports.
"From in or about December 1999, through in or about June 2000, al-Qaeda selected operatives to pilot the airplanes to be hijacked and dispatched the operatives to the United States to obtain flight training and otherwise carry out the plot," the indictment said.
This comes a week after Washington announced that the suspects would face a military tribunal.
