Saudi, Chinese oil giants ink joint refinery deal

Saudi state oil giant Aramco inked a deal Saturday with China's Sinopec to build an oil refinery in the Red Sea city of Yanbu that will process 400,000 barrels per day, state news agency SPA said.
The project, named Yasref, aims to be operational in 2014, SPA reported.
Saudi Aramco will hold a 62.5 percent stake with Sinopec holding the balance in the venture that highlights China's growing role as an infrastructure developer in the oil rich kingdom.
The deal "represents a strategic partnership in the refining industry between one of the main energy producers in Saudi Arabia and one of the world's most important consumers," said Aramco president and CEO Khalid al-Falih.

Censored In US Media (US city council opposes war with Iran)

The Charlottesville City Council in Virginia has approved a resolution that calls on Congress and the White House to refrain from launching any military action against Iran.

The resolution approved on Tuesday also urges Congress to end all current ground wars engaged in by the United States and to significantly reduce military spending.

The document argues that the US high military spending has drained funds from its domestic priorities, including education, health care, energy and tax relief.

“The City Council of Charlottesville, Virginia, calls on the US Congress and the US President to end foreign ground and drone wars, refrain from entering new military ventures in Iran, and reduce base military spending in order to meet vital human needs, promote job creation, re-train and re-employ those losing jobs in the process of conversion to non-military industries, rebuild our infrastructure, aid municipal and state governments, and develop a new economy based upon renewable, sustainable energy,” the document stated.
