Analysis: So much for change coming to Washington - Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama promised to change Washington's ways. Yet he's as caught up in them as ever.

As the week began, Obama kicked off his re-election bid with a sunny video of people talking about their hopes and needs, the very image of life outside Washington politics.

By week's end, Obama was mired in budget negotiations, canceling trips and scrambling to stave off a government shutdown that could only undermine the public's faith in his leadership.

Regime Change Libya: Privatization of their Central Bank and the Theft of their Nationalized Oil Profits

Regime Change Libya: Privatization of their Central Bank and the Theft of their Nationalized Oil Profits « American Everyman

There is no question anymore as to why the Obama administration is attempting to impose a change of the regime of Libya.

On March 17th I wrote about the invasion of Libya being about two main objectives: privatizing the national oil company and the state-owned central banking system. I pointed out that the US and British inserted language in the UN resolution that allowed them to freeze the accounts of the nationalized oil company as well as the central bank of Libya. Well, before they have even won their coup, the CIA backed pro-west opposition has taken the time to announce that they have formed a new national oil company and central bank. Obviously they have allowed our neo-liberal economic hit-men to write-up the legal documentation for this action and I am sure it hands over control to multinationals outside Libya. This is why so many globalist apologists and neo-liberals have been running around the last week claiming that the real government in Libya is the Transitional National Council.

South Carolina teen dies on highway named for his father
18-year-old Aaron Hill was killed on a highway named after his late father.

An 18-year-old senior was killed in a tragic car crash Thursday on the same stretch of road named in memory of his soldier father who died in Afghanistan.

Aaron Hill was driving to class along the Sergeant Shawn F. Hill Memorial Highway in Wellford, South Carolina, when a pickup truck crossed the center line and smashed into his vehicle head-on, cops said.

"It's tragic," said Sheriff Chuck Wright, a family friend who had to identify the young man's body. "No one should have to go through this.

"They've been through so much."

The mother of the alleged rape victim has lodged a complaint with the judicial watchdog complaining that Field only examined one of the charges the defendant faced and did not allow the jury announce their verdict on the two other charges.

Field reportedly got drunk at a leaving party in an extended lunch break during the trial and returned to the court room ordering the jury to acquit the 55-year old man accused of raping an 8-year-old as they could not reach consensus over the verdict after five days of hearing.

Activist Post: Open Source Methods for Self-Sufficient Communities
After reading about the Open Source Ecology project, I decided to do a little research and see if there were any other groups out there trying to attempt the same thing. What I found is that the majority of the small-scale, self-sufficient community projects are being funded either by universities or government grants.

Three employees of Transocean, owner and operator of the Deepwater Horizon, have refused to cooperate with a federal investigation into last year’s Gulf of Mexico oil disaster.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement are together conducting hearings in New Orleans on why the oil rig’s blowout preventer failed to stop the April 20, 2010, accident that killed 11 workers—nine of them Transocean employees— and spewed nearly five million barrels of oil into the ocean.
Michael Bromwich, director of the ocean energy bureau, said the employees’ refusal to testify was “unacceptable” and that Transocean should punish them for not cooperating.
A company spokesman claimed that Transocean was not responsible for two of the employees, James Kent and Jay Odenwald, because they have hired their own lawyers to represent them.

Minnesota Republicans say: Poor people with money should be outlaws

Minnesota Republicans say: Poor people with money should be outlaws | Fight Back!

St. Paul, MN – Minnesota Republicans are pushing legislation that would make it a crime for people on public assistance to have more $20 in cash in their pockets any given month. This represents a change from their initial proposal, which banned them from having any money at all.

On March 15, Angel Buechner of the Welfare Rights Committee testified in front of the House Health and Human Services Reform Committee on House File 171. Buechner told committee members, “We would like to address the provision that makes it illegal for MFIP [one of Minnesota’s welfare programs] families to withdraw cash from the cash portion of the MFIP grant - and in fact, appears to make it illegal for MFIP families to have any type of money at all in their pockets. How do you expect people to take care of business like paying bills such as lights, gas, water, trash and phone?”

House File 171 would make it so that families on MFIP - and disabled single adults on General Assistance and Minnesota Supplemental Aid - could not have their cash grants in cash or put into a checking account. Rather, they could only use a state-issued debit card at special terminals in certain businesses that are set up to accept the card.

'Bahrain-Mossad ties uncovered'

PressTV - 'Bahrain-Mossad ties uncovered'
According to a document released by Wikileakes, Bahraini security forces are secretly cooperating with Israel's notorious intelligence service, Mossad.

The leaked cables suggest that Manama has established intelligence and security ties with Tel Aviv with the full backing of the country's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The cables report private talks between the then US ambassador, William Monroe, and the Bahraini king in Manama on February 15, 2005.

"He [the king] revealed that Bahrain already has contacts with Israel at the intelligence/security level (Mossad) and indicated that Bahrain will be willing to move forward in other areas," said Monroe's report back to Washington, adding that the Bahraini King boasted of such ties with Israel.

According to Wikileaks, King Hamad has also issued an order not to refer to the Israeli regime as the Zionist regime in official documents.

The revelation came as Bahraini security forces are brutally cracking down the anti-government protesters in the Persian Gulf island.
