Vincent Browne v The ECB

VIDEO: Irish Bulldog Vincent Browne Pounds EU's Klaus Masuch Over the Irish Bank Bailout

Monday, January 23, 2012 – by Staff Report

Last Thursday in Dublin, Vincent Browne was like a dog with a bone at the ECB/EU/IMF Troika Press Conference. He put a question to the ECB's Klaus Masuch - a question that he refused to answer despite Vincent's persistence. So now is your chance to get that important question answered, and to facilitate this we have an email ready to send to Klaus below. All you have to do is enter your email address and the email as you see it will arrive in his inbox from you directly. – FM.com

Dominant Social Theme: The Irish, who are paying billions, are incredibly intelligent in the view of the EU.

Free-Market Analysis: The British have Nigel Farage (an independent-minded politician) and the Irish apparently have Vincent Browne, a more-than-independent-minded reporter.

In this YouTube clip we can watch Browne absolutely blow apart the arguments of EU and ECB banking representatives regarding the responsibility of the Irish to pay billions and billions to make European banks solvent for their poor investments in Irish real estate. It's a kind of tour-de-force.

Drowning In Hypocrisy

Paul Craig RobertsPrisonplanet.com
January 25, 2012
The US government is so full of self-righteousness that it has become a caricature of hypocrisy. Leon Panetta, a former congressman who Obama appointed CIA director and now head of the Pentagon, just told the sailors on the USS Enterprise, an aircraft carrier, that the US is maintaining a fleet of 11 aircraft carriers in order to project sea power against Iran and to convince Iran that “it’s better for them to try to deal with us through diplomacy.”http://ap.stripes.com/dynamic/stories/U/US_PANETTA_AIRCRAFT_CARRIER?SITE=DCSAS&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-01-21-19-22-34
If it requires 11 aircraft carriers to deal with Iran, how many will Panetta need to project power against Russia and China? But to get on with the main point, Iran has been trying “to deal with us through diplomacy.” The response from Washington has been belligerent threats of military attack, unfounded and irresponsible accusations that Iran is making a nuclear weapon, sanctions and an oil embargo. Washington’s accusations echo Israel’s and are contradicted by Washington’s own intelligence agencies and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Why doesn’t Washington respond to Iran in a civilized manner with diplomacy? Really, which of the two countries is the greatest threat to peace?

Even Israel Admits that Iran Has Not Decided to Build a Nuclear Bomb

Despite Misleading Hype, No Government Leaders Think that Iran Is Building a Nuclear Bomb

American and European leaders say that there is no evidence that Iran is building a nuclear weapon.
Even Israel – which has threatened to attack Iran on its own – now admits the same thing.
As Haaretz noted on January 18th:
The intelligence assessment Israeli officials will present later this week to [Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin ] Dempsey indicates that Iran has not yet decided whether to make a nuclear bomb.
The Israeli view is that while Iran continues to improve its nuclear capabilities, it has not yet decided whether to translate these capabilities into a nuclear weapon – or, more specifically, a nuclear warhead mounted atop a missile. Nor is it clear when Iran might make such a decision.

UK Sending Even More Ships To Iran

Britain could send military reinforcements to the Gulf in the escalating confrontation with Iran, the Defence Secretary said yesterday as the Tehran regime declared it would "defend the nation" against the threat posed by an EU oil embargo.
Philip Hammond said contingency plans were in place to send extra warships, aircraft and troops to the region if it became necessary. He said the decision to send a flotilla led by the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln through the Strait of Hormuz – which Iran had threatened to block – sent "a clear signal about the resolve of the international community to defend the right of free passage through international waters."

Okla. senator wants ban on human fetuses in food

A Republican state senator from Oklahoma City introduced a bill Tuesday that would ban the use of aborted human fetuses in food, despite conceding that he's unaware of any company using such a practice.
Freshman Sen. Ralph Shortey said his own Internet research led him to believe such a ban is necessary and prompted him to offer the bill aimed at raising "public awareness" and giving an "ultimatum to companies" that might consider such a policy.

AP Story On Paul’s First Class Flights Debunked – AP Flat Out Lied

Watch Lawrence O’Donnell (who is no friend of Paul’s) debunk the AP story.
It turns out that those first class flights that Paul was accused of taking on the tax payers dime were actually upgrades that he purchased using his frequent flier miles.  Paul buys all his tickets at the standard coach rates.  The tickets he buys are refundable which means they are slightly more expensive, but because the congress never sticks to its schedule, it is a necessity that the tickets be refundable rather than the cheaper non-refundable advance tickets.
So in short, the AP story was a flat out smear that has no basis in reality at all.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for a retraction.
