If the US were a company, it’d already be in Chapter 11.

FoxNews published a WHOPPER of a story yesterday, though it somehow has not caught the attention of most people. If you have issues with Fox them at the door for a moment and simply focus on the numbers.

For the first time since the Great Depression, the US is now officially paying out more in benefits than it takes in via tax receipts.

If the US were a company, it’d be spending more in salaries than it makes in sales. Aside from being unprofitable, it’s also got a MASSIVE debt load. And it’s current policy of paying out more than it makes only increases this debt load… which begs the question… who’s going to pay the interest payments on the debt?

Now, about those payments…

More than half of all Americans (59%) receive a Government payout in one form or another. This is not a sliver of the population…it is endemic to the system. So those who complain endlessly about Government spending need to consider they as well as half of everyone they know, likely gets some kind of assistance in the form of social security, Medicare, food stamps or what have you.

Here’s another zinger: Government payouts account for 79% of household growth since 2007. In other words, the only thing that has kept the US consumer afloat in the last four years is payouts from Uncle Sam.

Put another way, the private sector has contributed roughly one out of every five dollars in household growth since the Great Depression 2.0 started in 2007.

To say that these policies are unsustainable is the understatement of the year. The only reason the US hasn’t seen a complete debt implosion followed by hyperinflation is because the Federal Reserve is propping up the debt market with money printing.

Yes, we are supporting our debt load by creating more money out of thin air. It is absolute insanity and a clear signal that we’re rapidly approaching GAME OVER for the US’s monetary system.

There is only one way out of this mess and that is default. The US cannot EVER pay back its debts. A US default is going to happen GUARANTEED (hyperinflation induced by endless money printing is just another form of default). When this happens, the US Dollar will collapse, lose reserve currency status, and inflation will rip through the system destroying the purchasing power of anything paper-related.

DETROIT — Federal investigators in Detroit have taken the rare step of obtaining search warrants that give them access to Facebook accounts of suspected criminals.

The warrants let investigators view photographs, email addresses, cell phone numbers, lists of friends who might double as partners in crime, and see GPS locations that could help disprove alibis.

There have been a few dozen search warrants for Facebook accounts nationwide since May 2009, including three approved recently by a federal magistrate judge in Detroit, according to a Detroit News analysis of publicly available federal court records.

The trend raises privacy and evidentiary concerns in a rapidly evolving digital age and illustrates the potential law-enforcement value of social media, experts said.

Locally, Facebook accounts have been seized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and FBI to investigate more than a dozen gang members and accused bank robber Anthony Wilson of Detroit.

“To be honest with you, it bothers me,” said Wilson, 25, who was indicted Tuesday on bank robbery charges after the FBI compared Facebook photos with images taken from a bank surveillance video. “Facebook could have let me know what was going on. Instead, I got my door kicked down, and all of a sudden I’m in handcuffs.”

Federal investigators defend the practice. “With technology today, we would be crazy not to look at every avenue,” said Special Agent Donald Dawkins, spokesman with the ATF in Detroit.

The FBI suspected Wilson was behind a string of bank robberies across Metro Detroit that netted more than $6,300. Special Agent Juan Herrera said an informant told the FBI about Wilson’s Facebook account. It was registered under the name “Anthony Mrshowoff Wilson.”

When British programmers Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden took the stage at the Where 2.0 conference to unveil their work on iPhone location tracking, it was clear they had some big news on their hands. The duo outlined what they called "the discovery that your iPhone and 3G iPad [are] regularly recording the position of your device into a hidden file." Their findings started a firestorm of media coverage.

But as the details came to light, one researcher was left scratching his head—because he'd already made the same discovery last year.

Alex Levinson, 21, works at the Rochester Institute of Technology in western New York, and he has been studying forensic computing and working with Katana Forensics, which makes tools for interrogating iOS devices.

In a post on his blog, he explains that the existence of the location database—which tracks the cellphone towers your phone has connected to—has been public in security circles for some time.While it's not widely known, that's not the same as not being known at all.In fact, he has written and presented several papers on the subject and even contributed a chapter on the location data in a book that covers forensic analysis of the iPhone.

(One blogger reviewing the book in January mentioned the cell-tower data and says, "more and more you realize how much information Apple's mobile devices could contain and how valuable this could be for your investigation.")

IGNORING THE OBVIOUS

In his post, Levinson takes issue with the claim of "discovery." In fact, he told me by e-mail that Allan and Warden had apparently missed a whole area of existing research conducted by forensic analysts.

"It was a shock to me when this came out labeled as a 'discovery,'" he explains. "I watched thevideo, and they don't appear to be interested in the forensic side of this, which is honestly where the research lies."

Part of it seems to be a failure of researchers across different disciplines to plug into each others' work. As Levinson put it, "They basically built a bridge without turning to the civil engineers—I'm not the only one familiar with this stuff."

The Obama administration, after being served a reminder that WikiLeaks continues to torment Western countries with its trove of secret documents, lashed out at the website and several news organizations for revealing previously undisclosed details about the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.

U.S. and European newspapers, using assessments first obtained by WikiLeaks, described an inconsistent and questionable process used to evaluate detainees suspected of terror ties. The New York Times, which published several reports on the documents, described cases where seemingly low-risk detainees were held at length, while prisoners who posed a legitimate threat were released.

Obama administration officials stressed that the documents may not reflect assessments that have since been made by President Obama's Guantanamo Review Task Force -- they said those files "have not been compromised to WikiLeaks."

However, the officials suggested the disclosure could hurt U.S. security and condemned the release.

"Both administrations have made the protection of American citizens the top priority and we are concerned that the disclosure of these documents could be damaging to those efforts," said Ambassador Daniel Fried, the Obama administration's special envoy on detainee issues, and Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell, in a written statement.

Nato forces destroyed buildings inside Colonel Gaddafi's Bab al-Aziziyah compound early on Monday, in what a press official from Gaddafi's government said was an attempt on the Libyan leader's life.

Firefighters were still working to extinguish flames in a part of the ruined building a few hours after the attack, when foreign journalists were brought to the scene in Tripoli.

The press official, who asked not to be identified, said 45 people were hurt in the strike, 15 of them seriously, and some were still missing.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today praised the strong partnership between Russia and the United Nations at a meeting with the country”s President Dmitry Medvedev and called for even greater cooperation on global governance issues, including climate change and sustainable development.

“Russia has a special role to play in addressing regional and global challenges climate change, sustainable development, the food crisis and also situations, as you said, in the Middle East, Libya, Cote d”Ivoire and the Korean Peninsula,” said Mr. Ban when he met with Mr. Medvedev in Moscow.

“Those are some areas of my agenda. And I would like to really count on your strong support, and leadership and guidance in continuing my work as Secretary-General,” he said.

The Secretary-General briefed Mr. Medvedev on his recent trips, including his visit to Ukraine where he participated in the 25th anniversary of Chernobyl nuclear disaster and took part in the summit on safe and innovative use of nuclear energy.

At the meeting he convened on Libya in Cairo that brought together the UN, the African Union, the League of Arab States, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the European Union, Mr. Ban informed Mr. Medvedev that it was agreed that international community should continue working closely together in accordance with Security Council resolutions.

Earlier, the Secretary-General met with Russia”s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during which he underlined the importance of Russia”s continued support for the UN to advance a common global agenda.

At a joint news conference with Mr. Lavrov, the Secretary-General told reporters that their meeting focused on global peace and security, poverty eradication, sustainable development, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and nuclear energy safety.

“The dramatic events which we are seeing in the Middle East and North Africa underscore the need for people everywhere in the world to live in freedom with prosperity, and to live with dignity,” Mr. Ban said.

He stressed that the UN will continue to work with the Member States to support those who have a genuine longing for freedom, greater democracy and liberty.

“On global governance, climate change and sustainable development, we affirmed the importance of international cooperation. These challenges go beyond national boundaries,” said the Secretary-General.

He said he had conveyed his gratitude to President Medvedev for his efforts to address development issues at the forum of the Group of 20 (G20) major economies and for strengthening the role of the UN in global economic governance.

“As a member of the G8 and G20 and BRICS [the grouping that refers to Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa], Russia is in a unique position to support the UN”s role in global governance,” Mr. Ban emphasized.

“Beyond the Climate Change Conference, I am counting on Russia”s strong and active engagement in the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro,” he added.

He stressed his appreciation of Russia”s broad support for the UN – “its political backing ? its resources ? and most importantly, Russia”s guidance and direction as we navigate the challenges ahead.”

African Americans have staged a rally in Washington to protest against socioeconomic disparities in the US and failures to provide jobs to the black communities.

Members of the New Black Panther Party and the Black is Back coalition converged in a neighborhood in DC's Southeast quadrant for a National Day of Action, demanding attention to inequalities in education, housing and healthcare, a Press TV correspondent reported on Monday.

Protesters were particularly outraged by US President Barack Obama's failure to address the black communities' problems as figures show black unemployment hovers at staggering 16 percent nationwide.

"I'm very angry and disappointed because we supported him because he promised us change but he's just the same," an angry protester told Press TV.

According to the latest US Labor Department figures, overall jobless rates across the country fell to a better-than-expected 8.8 percent in March, but the unemployment rate also for black teenagers stood at 50 percent -- more than double the national average.

Blacks were among the first to lose jobs when the US recession began and now they are the populations having the hardest time bouncing back despite the 216,000 jobs added nationwide last month.

On Sept. 11, 2001, the core of al-Qaeda was concentrated in a single city: Karachi, Pakistan.

At a hospital, the accused mastermind of the bombing of the USS Cole was recovering from a tonsillectomy. Nearby, the alleged organizer of the 2002 bombing in Bali, Indonesia, was buying lab equipment for a biological weapons program. And in a safe house, the man who would later describe himself as the intellectual author of the Sept. 11 attacks was with other key al-Qaeda members watching the scenes from New York and Washington unfold on television.

Within a day, much of the al-Qaeda leadership was on the way back to Afghanistan, planning for a long war.

A cache of classified military documents obtained by the anti-secrecy organization WikiLeaks presents new details of their whereabouts on Sept. 11, 2001, and their movements afterward. The documents also offer some tantalizing glimpses into the whereabouts and operations of Osama bin Laden and his Egyptian deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

The documents, provided to European and U.S. news outlets, including The Washington Post, are intelligence assessments of nearly every one of the 779 individuals who have been held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, since 2002. In them, analysts have created detailed portraits of detainees based on raw intelligence, including material gleaned from interrogations.

Detainees are assessed “high,” “medium” or “low” in terms of their intelligence value, the threat they pose while in detention and the continued threat they might pose to the United States if released.

The documents tend to take a bleak view of the detainees, even those who have been ordered released by the federal courts because of a lack of evidence to justify their continued detention. And the assessments are often based, in part, on reporting by informants at the military detention center, sources that some judges have found wanting.

In a statement, the Pentagon, which described the decision to publish some of the material as “unfortunate,” stressed the incomplete and snapshot nature of the assessments, known as Detainee Assessment Briefs, or DABs.

“The Guantanamo Review Task Force, established in January 2009, considered the DABs during its review of detainee information,” said Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell and Ambassador Daniel Fried, the Obama administration’s special envoy on detainee issues. “In some cases, the Task Force came to the same conclusions as the DABs. In other instances the Review Task Force came to different conclusions, based on updated or other available information. Any given DAB illegally obtained and released by Wikileaks may or may not represent the current view of a given detainee.”

Regardless of how detainees are currently assessed, many of the documents shed light on their histories, particularly those of the 14 high-value detainees whose assessments were made available. When pieced together, they capture some of the drama of al-Qaeda’s scattering in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks. They also point to tensions between certain members of the terrorist group.
