ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast – Witnesses say that French tanks are advancing on Ivory Coast strongman Laurent Gbagbo's bunker.
The operation Monday comes a day after U.N. and French helicopters fired rockets at the residence where Gbagbo is holed up clinging to power.
Local residents who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, say forces loyal to internationally recognized President Alassane Ouattara have joined the battle, attacking positions around the state television station and Gbagbo's home.
